Allatooner’s Dulcimer Group – meeting Sunday, 9/13/09

I am a member of the Allatooner’s Dulcimer Group, which is part of the North Georgia Foothills Dulcimer Association. We meet once a month, and beginners are more than welcome! The regular monthly gathering will be this Sunday, September 13, 2009 from 1:30 – 4:00 pm at the Town View Baptist Church – Modular Building C.

The location is: 1115 Shiloh Road Northwest Kennesaw, GA 30144

Note that this is not really a jam, per se, and we don’t play bluegrass. It is mostly old-time; it is for people who want to enrich their lap (mountain) dulcimer skills primarily. There are a lot of beginners, so don’t be shy. Autoharps are known to show also.

Follow the Duck!

Hi Gang,
This is a reminder that I will be leading a bluegrass jam at the Ragamuffin in Roswell this Friday, August 28.  They bill it as a bluegrass gospel jam, but we do bluegrass standards and instrumentals as well.  The jam starts at 7 pm.  I hope to see you there.

Young Bluegrass Band From Ashville

Those of us who like to hang out at the Red Light Cafe when we have the time & gas money to make the trip know and love this young bluegrass band from Asheville.  They seem to have progressed out of our sphere, however, opting to play at Eddie’s Attic this go-round, for the release tour of their new CD Tellico.  Anya Hinkle, the fiddler, has written a two-part series of articles for Bluegrass Journal telling the story of their journey through the mazes of recording a CD.  Part I is available right now at this link:
